Work will begin on the construction site in Victoria next week, which means the company will own and operate, or actively build more than 1 GW of solar energy in the country.
Numarkah signed a 15-year power purchase agreement with SIMEC ZEN Energy and signed a 38MW green certificate purchase agreement with the Victorian Regional Government.
The head of Neoen Australia said, “Numurkah is an important project for Neoen, first because it marks the achievement of our first Gigawatt project in Australia, whether it is under construction or in operation.”
He added, “Secondly, because the Victorian government and Zen Energy are long-term partners of Neoen, this project demonstrates our joint efforts to achieve sustainable, reliable and competitive energy for all Australians.”
The Numurkah solar project is expected to begin commercial operations in May 2019.
