What is the ideal indoor humidity level for home use, and when should I turn on the humidifier?

The healthiest indoor relative humidity for human living is between 40% and 60%. When indoor humidity is lower than 40%, the air becomes dry, which easily causes dry skin, chapped lips, dry throat and cough, and also aggravates static electricity in the room. In autumn and winter, central heating, air conditioning and heater operation will sharply reduce indoor humidity, making it necessary to turn on the humidifier for long-term use. In dry spring days or dry air-conditioned rooms in summer, you can also turn on the humidifier appropriately. It is recommended to equip a hygrometer to monitor indoor humidity in real time; turn off the humidifier in time when the humidity exceeds 60% to avoid excessive moisture leading to mold growth and wall dampness.
